Serayu is a kinetic art piece initially known as Manta Ray, inspired by the manta ray fish. The second version, exhibited at Nirmana Kinetic Space, draws inspiration from the albatross bird, both in form and movement. The philosophy behind Serayu depicts a bird continuously flapping its wings, symbolizing humans who work hard and move consistently to achieve freedom, dreams, and aspirations.
The name “Serayu” also refers to the Serayu River in Central Java, Indonesia, known for its strong currents and continuous flow. This aligns with the artwork’s philosophy of ongoing movement and an unyielding spirit.
